Vanishing suddenly in Sarthe, France

On August 31, 1984, between 9:00 PM and 9:15 PM, two witnesses saw a large white light, motionless, below the moon. During the 10 minutes of observation that followed, this light stretched out to take the shape of a rugby ball, moved to a position above the moon, and took the shape of two distinct white lights. According to the witnesses, these lights seemed to be connected to each other by a compact mass. No noise and no trace of smoke were noted. The phenomenon disappeared suddenly. No other information was collected about this phenomenon.
