AnomalySimilar to a diesel engine running at a distance When the noise started for me I'd just moved into a newly built house. I had all of the utility companies (water, gas and electric) come round and do tests, they found nothing. I had an audio engineer which was supplied by the house builders leave sensitive recording devices in my house over night. They found nothing unusual. I do live particularly close to a mobile phone mast (around 30m)
