A low hum in USA, Rochester

Low frequency hum: like a train coming far in the distance, a car idling in a driveway, a roof-top fan or motor. I can tell you that I live by Roberts Wesleyan College which has recently expanded; also several new housing developments; and finally, several new cell towers as close as 2 miles from my home.
