It sounded kind of like a diesel engine. It had a throbbing quality. It was louded indoors. I could hear it outside but it was less intense. When I tried to locate the hum, I went outside. It became less noticeable outside. There was a large industrial plant approximately 1 mile away. The hum did not seem to originate from there. This was a very rural setting and there was no other potential sources in the vicinity.
What they reported
First noticed: 1992
Pitch: 50 Hz. Sine wave. BUT it throbbed like a large motor/engine running under partial load.
Loudest: During the night
Where: Indoors
Symptoms: None.
Changes with weather: I no longer live in the house where I experienced the hum but that was in a stand lone house in a very rural setting. I never noticed a change that coincided with weather changes.
What stood out: a low hum
