Similar to an electrical motor whine mixed with a distant car engine sound In trying to find source of the sound I've had hearing tests, electricians check the wiring, plumbers check central heating in neighbours houses in case there was a noise bleed and made initial contact with Environmental Health Noise Control. There is no explanation as to why it suddenly started early in January or indication of a cause.
