An account in Eure-et-Loir, France

On March 10, 1980, at the end of their shift, the gendarmes of the Authon-du-Perche brigade received a call from the neighboring brigade reporting the testimony of a taxi driver who had seen a strange glow on the road going toward Authon. They quickly went to the scene but noticed nothing unusual. Back at his home, one of the gendarmes and his wife continued to watch the sky, and around 10:15 PM, they saw a light larger than a star, with completely erratic movements in the sky. This light was in the shape of an orange disk. The gendarme called his colleagues back, and all four of them left by car to search for the strange phenomenon. After following it and losing sight of it several times due to the terrain, they finally got out of the car at an intersection. They then observed a large rectangular shape with rounded corners and white luminous ramps that lit up the surrounding landscape as well as the car. One of the gendarmes felt a sensation of heat as well as a strong feeling of fear that later prevented him from falling asleep. The gendarmes went home around 11:30 PM. No explanation could be found for this observation, whose characteristics of erratic and very rapid movements are also found in other observation testimonies.
