An account in Autre, France

On November 24, 1959 at around 8:20 PM, a witness aboard a boat at the commercial port of Dakar (Senegal) observed the movement of a luminous phenomenon made up of bright points and surrounded by a halo. This phenomenon was located to the southwest and at about 15 degrees in elevation. The speed of the phenomenon increased, then its trajectory became downward. The halo darkened more and more, and the phenomenon disappeared. The observation lasted 5 minutes. In the report written by the witness, he indicates 4 boats in different observation locations for the same phenomenon at roughly the same time. Only one testimony was collected. The description of the phenomenon could suggest a distant airplane seen head-on with its landing light on. GEIPAN classifies this case as C due to lack of information.
