An account in Nord, France

On February 25, 2018 at 3:30 in the morning, a motorist notices in the sky a white glowing ball in the clear, starry sky. This ball seems to move and stops when the motorist stops his vehicle. No sound is heard. The passenger films the phenomenon. Only one testimony is collected. This case is very illustrative of the illusion of a following ball that can be caused by mistaking a celestial body when the witness is moving. Here we have a video from the witness taken while moving. The strangeness for the witness begins with not recognizing the appearance of the celestial body. When the witness's car follows a roughly constant heading, the celestial body is fixed relative to the vehicle and moves along with the landscape. Since the witness does not see the celestial body but a UAP and considers it at a close distance, this movement along the landscape is perceived as the UAP moving parallel to the vehicle, reproducing the starts/stops. When the witness's heading changes, the position of the UAP relative to the road changes. The video clearly illustrates these strangenesses perceived by the witness. The attached reconstruction shows without ambiguity that it was Jupiter, very bright that evening, reconstructed at two points of the route, once with Jupiter in the axis of the road, another time on the left. Consequently, GEIPAN classifies the case as A: Observation of Jupiter.
