An account in Rh�ne, France

On May 15, 2014 at around 11 p.m., the gendarmerie was patrolling with a helicopter over Lyon. An onboard camera filmed for more than 10 minutes a luminous UAP with strong scintillation. The fixed luminous object was visible to the naked eye for 2 and a half hours. Many parameters allow concluding that it was a misidentification with the star Antares (see the investigation report): - Long observation, more than two hours. - Fixed position in the sky. - Presence of strong scintillation clearly visible on the video, even when the luminous point appears as an artifact ("truncated crown"). At this low elevation, stellar scintillation is often very present. - Angular proximity of the Moon and the UAP, the latter being located in the video. The strangeness of this case is low: it is mainly caused by the unusual appearance of the UAP, with its strong scintillation, as perceived by witnesses who had never used the camera before to observe the sky. The testimony is not very consistent, with fairly little data provided by the witness, but a video of the phenomenon was made and could be exploited. This case is to be classified as "A" as a certain misidentification with the star Antares.
