An account in H�rault, France

On Tuesday, September 24, 2013, between 10 PM and 11 PM, two people observed rapid movements of a luminous phenomenon in the sky. Other observations of the same type would be made later from the hamlet. Each time, no particular noise was heard, and the observations lasted an hour or more. The witness's description of the luminous phenomenon, and the confirmation of the observation by the gendarmes, point without any doubt toward the hypothesis of a spotlight beam coming from the ground. Although there is no nightclub in the direction of the observation, the gendarmes report that the mountainous and very sparsely populated area is often the site of informal parties (raves). The photo taken by the witness, which contains a bright circle, actually shows nothing of the observed phenomenon: this bright circle at the top of the image is an "orb" caused by the camera flash on a dust particle very close to the lens. GEIPAN did not conduct research to find the source of the spotlight, research that is extremely difficult because these installations are temporary and often clandestine.
