An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Var, France

On February 2, 2011, starting at 6:15 a.m., two witnesses observed from the living room of their apartment a dark circle in which bright lights sparkled. About the size of the full moon, this phenomenon remained stationary for about fifteen minutes, then shrank and moved away, becoming in a few seconds a very bright point. The observation ended at 6:45 a.m. The first hypothesis considered was the astronomical observation of the planet Venus, particularly visible at this time of year (magnitude -3.9, therefore very bright) to the southeast (135°) at 10° above the horizon (see star chart). However, this hypothesis does not explain the observation of a dark circle and bright lights, nor the speed of the object's disappearance. No other testimony was collected about this phenomenon. Given the observed phenomenon, an in-depth investigation is difficult to conduct. The case is classified as "C" due to lack of information.
