An account in Essonne, France

During a street meal on September 5, 2009, around 10 p.m., several people observe the silent passage of a luminous object in the sky. One witness reports seeing an orange-colored ball moving slowly, then suddenly heading south at high speed, still without any noise. The characteristics of the observation seem to indicate a well-known phenomenon often reported to GEIPAN: the passage of a luminous flying lantern. The presence of a fireworks display nearby, and therefore of festive activity, significantly strengthens this hypothesis. This case is classified as B, as the probable observation of a luminous flying lantern.
