An account in Nord, France

On August 10, 2008, GEIPAN was contacted by telephone by a witness who reported an observation made in the presence of other people, including gendarmes. Between 11:00 PM and 2:17 AM on the night of August 10–11, 2008, two luminous points resembling stars were observed with the naked eye and then with binoculars. The phenomenon was stationary, then moved slowly. A similar observation in the same direction but slightly lower on the horizon occurred on August 22 at 10:35 PM. The investigation showed that the witnesses had made an astronomical observation of Arcturus and Capella, which were particularly visible at that time of year.
