An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Vosges, France

Around 8:35 PM on February 15, 1980, a witness observed a luminous sphere toward the southwest. It was located just above a building. Leaning against a wall to watch the phenomenon with binoculars, the witness was able to note the presence of two balls. These, one red and one white located above the first, moved without shifting position. The position of the two balls reversed, and the whole thing disappeared after tracing a fairly wide "Z" in the sky. The observation lasted about 10 minutes in a perfectly clear sky. No other witness to this phenomenon, for which we lack data, came forward to the gendarmerie. This witness probably made an astronomical observation of Venus (magnitude -4) very low on the horizon, which disappears into the urban landscape.
