An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Hautes-Alpes, France

In the night of November 6 to 7, 2013, a resident (T1) of TALLARD (05) observes and films several lights in the sky starting at 11:55 PM. He contacts by phone the gendarmerie and civil aviation services to report the facts. A patrol is sent to the witness and everyone makes new observations between 12:30 AM and 12:54 AM from Tallard. At 1:00 AM a gendarme in Gap (T2) spots a shimmering glowing ball toward the SOUTHEAST. At 1:40 AM, T1 and the gendarmerie patrol stop their observation. Around 2:00 AM, T2 in turn stops observing. The video recording made by T1 is of very poor quality: the images are blurry and zoomed in. The observation took place from two different observation sites (see investigation report) in a relatively clear sky. The observations of the various UAPs all present the characteristics of astronomical observations, given the description of the UAPs (shimmering lights) and the length of the observation times (more than two hours from Tallard (05), about one hour from Gap (05)). The shimmering of the UAPs is perfectly consistent with the twinkling of stars, a natural phenomenon caused by high-altitude wind. Star twinkling is all the stronger when the celestial bodies are low on the horizon, which is indeed the case with the various UAPs observed that night. Moreover, the presence of very significant terrain (Alps) in the immediate vicinity of the observation sites only reinforces the high-altitude winds responsible for this twinkling. The very strong consistency between the true positions of the brightest celestial bodies then present in the sky and those of the observed UAPs leaves no doubt about the misidentification. Of low strangeness and high consistency (multiple witnesses, video recording), this case turns out to be a very probable misidentification with celestial bodies: Rigel, Jupiter, Vega, Sirius. Moreover, these various celestial bodies are directly visible in the directions indicated by the witnesses, and the sky was clear. The shimmering of the UAPs and the movement of UAP 4 are moreover perfectly consistent with celestial bodies. This case is classified A, misidentification with very bright celestial bodies (Jupiter, Sirius, Vega, Rigel).
