Recent testimony (February 2016) of an old observation. On December 21, 2013 between 4:29 p.m. and 4:33 p.m. a witness photographs a luminous phenomenon in the clear sky that he cannot explain. No other testimony is collected. The observed phenomenon has all the characteristics of a parhelion, part of a solar halo: Parhelion. Parhelion. Météo-France (See photo 6). Because the photos provided are not the original files, GEIPAN could not verify that the angle between the sun and the phenomenon is exactly 22°, but the appearance of the phenomenon, compared to the images on the websites above, leaves no doubt as to its origin. At the time of the observation, the sun is at an elevation of 6°30, which is consistent with this 22° separation between the sun and the phenomenon (see the photos). The weather report from Toulouse Blagnac Météociel indicates a south wind accompanied by a sharp drop in pressure, thus announcing the arrival of a weather disturbance, accompanied by a cloud cover of cirrus or cirrostratus at very high altitude, therefore very cold, favorable to the parhelion phenomenon, which occurs thanks to the ice crystals of this type of cloud. GEIPAN classifies this case "A" as an observation of a characteristic parhelion.
