An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Haute-Savoie, France

On April 11, 2015 at 9:41 PM, a witness observes from his kitchen window a succession of three luminous phenomena that intrigue him. - A big white flash at 8:41 PM, to the East, at an elevation of about 45°. At that moment, several high-altitude aircraft are noted in the direction of observation (see the Flightradar24 record). The sun has been set for about twenty minutes, but the aircraft at 13,000m altitude are still in sunlight: a temporary reflection of the sun on the underside of the aircraft's wings, or on its fuselage, can cause this temporary flash effect. The aircraft itself, too far away, is invisible to the naked eye. - An orange flash, lower, moving for 2 seconds: the description matches well a flash from an Iridium satellite, seen at low elevation (reddening due to the atmosphere): the Calsky record (attached) indicates 2 Iridium flashes, in that direction at a very close time: one at 8:46 PM, of magnitude -2.5, the other at 8:55 PM, probably too low to be visible in a mountainous area. - A third very short flash of half a second, whose origin may be the reflection of the sun on one of the many satellites visible at that moment. This observation is classified "B": very probable observation of sun reflections on an aircraft, and on satellites.
