An account in Ctes-d'Armor, France

On January 4, 2015 at 7:20 PM, a witness and his wife observe, from their car, three fixed luminous points for 5 minutes. The three points go out one after another. The observation of orange-yellow balls in the sky for a few minutes, going out one after another, on a weekend night, clearly suggests Thai lanterns, probably released nearby on the occasion of the New Year celebrations. The balls seem motionless, which is consistent with the very light south wind (2 to 4 km/h) recorded by the weather service at Saint-Brieuc (22). GEIPAN classifies this case "B": probable observation of Thai lanterns. GEIPAN has not received any other testimonies related to this observation to date.
