An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Gironde, France

Around midnight, the witness sees two objects in the sky of a bright orange color, moving slowly and without noise. She then wakes up her companion. The objects disappear and are replaced by three others that pass in front of the Moon. The observation of a succession of bright orange to yellow circular objects crossing the sky in a few minutes, on the eve of a celebration, clearly suggests Thai lanterns, probably released nearby and at the end of a private party. The movement is observed toward the East, consistent with the wind recorded at Bergerac: weak, from the southwest sector (see meteociel). GEIPAN classifies this case as B: probable observation of Thai lanterns.
