An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Rhne, France

The observation of a group of bright points (about twenty) silently crossing the sky in a few minutes at 10:35 PM, on a weekend night, strongly suggests sky lanterns, probably released nearby at the end of a private party. The movement is observed from South to North. At 10 PM, an East wind is recorded at Lyon-Bron: Weather. But a very weak North to West wind, highly variable, at Macon: Weather. Since Gleizé is located between these two weather stations, it is very difficult to confirm the sky lantern hypothesis based on wind direction. Nevertheless, the witness's description, and the number of lights observed, leaves little doubt about the origin of the phenomenon. GEIPAN classifies this case "B": probable observation of sky lanterns.
