An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Gironde, France

On Monday, October 7, 2013 at around 6:30 p.m., a motorist on the A 63 is intrigued by the movement of a white point in the sky. The witness sees it move away toward the south, disappear, then seem to come back up toward the north. No colored blinking indicating an airplane is visible. At 6:30 p.m., the setting sun is at Azimuth 251° and at an Elevation of 9° 55'. It lights airplanes from the side; the wings, not lit from above or below, appear invisible. Airplanes do not all leave condensation trails in the sky: those flying below about 7,000 m do not leave any. According to the Flightradar24 website, many flights are noted on this axis, most above 10,000 m, but some at lower altitude (see attached record). At 6:52 p.m. (civil time) two airplanes cross paths in the observation area. GEIPAN classifies this case "B": probable observation of two airplanes, flying at a medium altitude and lit by the setting sun.
