An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Alpes-Maritimes, France

On July 27, 2013 at 11:47 PM, a couple observed the passage of a luminous blinking object in a clear sky. Seen through binoculars, the object was described as round in shape, with regular blinking and an amber color. No noise was heard. Arriving from the south of Nice, the object moved northward, then began a smooth and linear turn toward the west of the city and the Var. Only one testimony was collected. The witness's description has all the characteristics of an airplane: the multiple blinking lights (anti-collision and strobes at 1 Hz) that are not synchronized often give the illusion of blinking twice per second. The trajectory of the phenomenon is compatible with that of an airplane. GEIPAN processed this case too late to be able to verify this hypothesis with radar traces. As a result, and since the witness visibly rejects this airplane hypothesis, GEIPAN classifies this case as "C" due to lack of information.
