An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Haute-Garonne, France

On December 28, 2012 at 9:45 PM, a witness driving on the A61 motorway near the Toulouse-sud rest area observes for 20 to 30 seconds a stationary luminous phenomenon very close by that intrigues him. He sees two horizontal white lights at very low altitude, then a central white beam lighting up the ground. These lights go out and give way to 6 to 8 rectangular light spots that blink successively in yellow and orange. The witness stops at a gas station but trees block his view of the phenomenon. Despite the heavy traffic on the motorway that evening, no other testimony will be collected. The difficulty of this case is the uniqueness of the testimony in an environment that is nevertheless very busy, but which does not allow a clear understanding of the phenomenon. The search for other witnesses turned out to be negative, even though the phenomenon is quite spectacular (see the investigation report). The observation is very short and takes place in a car driving at night on a very congested motorway. The witness is sincere and was impressed by what he saw to the point of returning to the scene the next day, going to the Muret gendarmerie, and sending a letter to GEIPAN. His testimony is relatively precise but unique. The hypothesis of "reflections" combined with a misperception or misinterpretation seems the most likely but does not call into question the credibility of the witness. This case is classified B: probable observation of reflections of headlights on the car windows.
