An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Isre, France

On September 8, 2012 at 11:00 PM, two people observe the slow and silent passage of two round red luminous objects. One of the two objects takes a different direction from the first and suddenly disappears. The description of the phenomenon and the photo clearly suggest Thai lanterns: red-orange balls moving slowly for a few minutes. The movement from South to North or Northwest is not inconsistent with the very weak, unstable wind, rather from the South sector. Saturday evenings are the preferred times for lantern releases. The disappearance of the objects simply corresponds to the flame going out when the paraffin is exhausted. GEIPAN classifies this case "B": probable observation of Thai lanterns.
