An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Hrault, France

On September 9, 2012 around midnight, a group of three friends were watching shooting stars and were intrigued by a star with strong brightness that seemed to move fairly quickly in all directions, followed by another light of weaker intensity. Only one testimony was collected. The sky chart shows the planet Jupiter and the star Aldebaran at the position described by the witnesses. The movements of these bright points described by the witnesses are obviously not consistent with the hypothesis of observing fixed celestial bodies. The hypothesis of an autokinetic illusion is put forward to explain this testimony: one can see that this area of the sky is sparsely populated with other bright stars, which makes this hypothesis plausible. GEIPAN classifies this case "B": observation of Jupiter and Aldebaran, probably observed with an autokinetic illusion.
