An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Maine-et-Loire, France

On August 15, 2012 at around 10 p.m., a witness on a terrace is looking at the stars. He is intrigued by the unusual movement of two, then three, blinking lights of color. The witness changes his observation location. Reviewing different hypotheses of known phenomena, none satisfies him. His observation is confirmed by two other family members who think it is either a helicopter or a satellite. During the 15-minute observation, no noise is heard. The UAP leaves the witness's field of vision. No other testimony will be collected. Given the elements gathered in the investigation, namely the analysis of six hypotheses, two of which fit the observation very well, in terms of physical and dynamic characteristics (see the investigation report), the GEIPAN classifies this case in category "B" as a probable observation of a helicopter or a tourist aircraft in VFR night flight heading toward Nantes airport, Ancenis aerodrome, or the DAG base at Saint-Nazaire. This testimony is of average quality and also of average consistency because, although three witnesses were present, only one completed the questionnaire, the other two having responded only very concisely to the gendarmes. Furthermore, the testimony is not accompanied by photographs. The observation is ultimately not very strange because the UAP is easily characterizable, both in its appearance and in its behavior.
