An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in France, France

GEIPAN received several testimonies reporting the rapid passage of a luminous phenomenon in the sky. The observations were made at Peypin (13), on the RN 568 between Arles and Fos-sur-Mer (13), and from a helicopter in flight above a station in the Pyrénées 2000 (the indication 91 and 93 in the case name refers to the region code). The descriptions bring together the characteristics (shape, trajectory, rapid angular movement) of an atmospheric re-entry of a meteoroid or space debris. In addition, the comparison, due to the appearance, the general direction North to South, and especially the time, with other reports (outside GEIPAN) made in fairly distant locations, allows the hypothesis of an atmospheric re-entry visible by distant witnesses because it occurred at high altitude (50 to 150 km) to be established with good probability. See the canalblog article. Consequently, GEIPAN classifies the case as B: probable atmospheric re-entry.
