An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Gers, France

On November 26, 2010, between 11:30 PM and midnight, two witnesses observe in the sky five to six luminous points of the same size and of a yellow-orange color that move, without sound, making disordered and rapid curves around another fixed luminous point. The points go out suddenly; the witnesses notice that the fixed point, for its part, goes out gradually. GEIPAN considered several hypotheses for this observation: first, Thai lanterns, but one of the witnesses states that the movements of the lights were far too rapid and centered on a fixed point. One might think of a pyrotechnic or electrical device set up for a celebration, but there does not seem to have been any major celebration in Mirande that day. A "natural" cause is excluded, given the complexity of the observed movements. Since the facts are too old to search for other witnesses and launch an investigation, this case is classified in category "C" for lack of information.
