An account in Vende, France

On Friday, May 22, 2009 at around 11:30 PM, two witnesses were intrigued by the West-East passage of a white luminous phenomenon at a regular speed. One of the witnesses observed a zig-zag made by the phenomenon before it quickly faded out. The witnesses in all likelihood observed a pass of the International Space Station (ISS) at the moment it entered the Earth's shadow. The brief zigzag perceived by one of the witnesses during the observation may be due to an autokinetic phenomenon: focused on the luminous point crossing the sky, the brain momentarily lost its bearings and interpreted the natural movements of the eyeballs as a displacement of the luminous point itself. This case is classified as A, observation of a pass of the International Space Station.
