An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Vende, France

On the night of May 3, 2008, from 10 p.m., numerous witnesses on the Atlantic coast and on the island of Yeu observe in the sky the movement of several glowing balls. No particular noise is heard during the various observations. These observations will be picked up by the local and national press. One person will contact the local gendarmerie of the island of Yeu to explain that he is probably the cause of these luminous phenomena. On the occasion of a private party, he did indeed, that evening, launch around 10 p.m. at the Pointe du Cantin in the northwest of the island of Yeu, Thai flying lanterns, a kind of hot-air balloon that drift with the winds and currents before going out. These observation cases were the subject of specific news on the GEIPAN website.
