An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Alpes-Maritimes, France

Recent testimony (28/05/2009) of an old observation (25/04/1997). A witness observes from his office the movement of a large iridescent yellow luminous point. The observation lasts 20 to 25 minutes. No other testimony was collected on this phenomenon. The description of this luminous point advancing slowly in a straight line from South to North suggests a high-altitude balloon. Météo-France reports to us that day "Little wind and from the South West sector", which is not quite compatible with the observation. If it is a scientific balloon, it is not clear where it could come from (from Italy at a stretch?). Although the observation is very similar to that of a balloon, GEIPAN lacks elements to support this hypothesis, or to refute it. Given the age of the case, and its low strangeness, this case is classified "C": lack of information.
