An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Aude, France

Following an article that appeared in the newspaper "l'Indépendant" of December 20, 1987, the gendarmerie interviews a witness who says that on December 12, 1987, while sheltering from the rain in the ruins of a house, he met a group of 6 strange people with whom he exchanged a few words. These people say they come from another planet, and one of them draws two signs on the ground which he translates for the witness. They then get onto wheel-less machines resembling sleds. The witness hears a noise resembling ultrasounds when the machines depart. The witness returns to the spot with his daughter two hours after his observation and finds round traces on the ground where the characters' feet had been. During the investigation, the gendarmerie finds no traces on the ground, and no other testimony is collected. This very strange but insubstantial case (single witness, absence of ground traces despite being alleged) presents a few details that make the testimony doubtful: the aliens' planet of origin ("Earth") being merely a simple English translation of the word "Terre," characters speaking approximate French, inconsistency between the description of resting athletes and the estimated height of 1m or 1.5m. In the current GEIPAN classification, this case is classified as PAN C due to a lack of reliable information.
