An account

It started out pouring down rain and very windy. It was late afternoon, but very dark and gray the whole time. I had a black umbrella that was keeping me reasonably dry. I was in a city (I live in a suburban area) comparable to New York City. All of my nightmares involve me being chased in some form, usually by a human being. In this particular dream, I was being chased by several men (no idea who they were or why). Sometimes they were in a car, and other times they were on foot. I was doing a reasonably good job of keeping them off my tail, one of my tactics included running across the street right before a car was coming (pretty risky) and hoping they would follow and get hit by the car. Once I lost them for a good while, I hid in an alleyway and called someone to tell them where I was and to come pick me up. I started to get concerned that if they found me, I was stuck at a dead end and had no way out, so I started to walk down the street again. At this point, the wind blew my umbrella up, but I got a phone call from my aunt asking where I was. I told her and she said that she was at my great aunt and uncles house right up the street (in real life, they do not live in the city, though). Once I got inside, it was warm and there were a lot of vibrant colors. There was a very little girl inside the house on the corner as well, who was crying and scared, and who appeared to have been involved in the whole ordeal. I do not know who she was or what she represented, but in the dream I seemed to know who she was. I hugged her and said, "No one will ever hurt you again." I immediately asked my aunt where her car was, and she gestured to the street right outside. I told her to go and get it started, so as to have me and the child out on the streets (and visible) for as short a time as possible. Once I saw she was ready to go, I went outside, and all the color drained from the dream again. It was still raining heavily, and I no longer had an umbrella. I was drenched now, and woke up right before getting into the car.
