An account

I was sitting at a fire listening to stories. I became so engrossed in the tales, I was inside of them. I saw a giant serpent made of sticks in the sky, it roared. my view then shifted to a burning mask of a snake. the fire crackled and consumed it, but not before the mask turned into a human head with a forked tongue sticking out. my view changed to what was behind the mask, a stage. my consciousness approached the stage. There was a man on the stage, full of enthusiasm, but I could tell that he did not want to do what he was about to do, it was only a necessity. I was then standing off to the side of the stage, I was the assistant, my job was to calm the sacrifices. a job that was not much better than the man on the stages job was. he asked for the first sacrifice. a woman put a baby in a cradle on the stage. the man keeled over the cradle, I could not watch, I looked away. I heard a crunch. when I looked back, the cradle and baby where gone, eaten. "at least it was quick and painless" I thought. the man asked for the next sacrifice. A young child toddled up to the stage. again I could not watch. done with that one, he looked to the side of the audience with pets, I am sorry I cannot type any more, it is too hard. There was a poodle puppy that I played with, and my own dog that I played with before I woke up.
